Leave of Absence
Attendance Policy: Regular attendance is expected. Notify your instructor if you are absent from class. It is the student’s responsibility to obtain notes, handouts, and any other information covered when absent from class. In some courses an unexcused absence may result in administrative withdrawal from the course.
Leave of Absence: Requests for a leave of absence must be submitted to the office of the Dean of Student Services with supporting documentation.
Short-Term Leave of Absence
A short-term absence refers to a student who needs to take a leave of absence for more than two weeks but shorter than the remainder of the current semester. Short-term leaves of absence may be granted for circumstances including, but not limited to:
- Surgery or recovery from surgery
- Death in the immediate family
- Inpatient or intensive outpatient mental health care
- Birth, adoption, or new foster placement of a child
- Other physical or mental health emergencies
Students requesting a short-term leave of absence must provide documentation of an extenuating circumstance and meet with a representative from the Dean of Student Affairs Office to complete a detailed plan for their leave. For more information contact the Dean of Student Services.
