Graduation
Graduation Requirements
- Associate Degrees: Students must complete a minimum of 60 credit hours.
- Bachelor Degrees: Students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours.
- Graduate Degrees: Students must complete a minimum of 30 credit hours
Residency Credit Requirement
- Specialized Certificates: All requirements must be met at LCOOU.
- One- Year Certificates and Associates: A student must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 15 credits at LCOOU to meet residency requirements. At least 12 of the last 15 credits in the final semester must be earned in residency at LCOOU.
- Bachelor’s: A student must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 30 credits at LCOOU to meet residency requirements. At least 23 of the last 30 credits in the final semester of a bachelor's degree program must be earned in residency at LCOOU.
- Master’s: A student must satisfactorily complete a minimum of 21 credits at LCOOU to meet residency requirements. All credits in the final semester of a master’s program must be earned in residency at LCOOU.
GPA Requirements
- Undergraduate Degrees: Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale or as specified by their program. All courses must be completed with a C or above unless otherwise noted in program requirements.
- Graduate Degrees: Students must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or as specified by their program. All courses must be completed with a B or above.
Time to Degree Completion
- Undergraduate degree students are allowed ten years, from the first registration date to complete degree requirements. Courses taken more than ten years before the date of graduation will not be applied to degree requirements.
- Graduate degree students are allowed five years, from the first registration date to complete degree requirements. Courses taken more than five years before the date of graduation will not be applied to degree requirements.
Application for Graduation
- Submission: Students must apply for graduation by the deadline in their final semester.
- Graduation Audit: The Registrar’s Office will conduct a graduation audit to ensure all requirements are met.
Students with outstanding accounts, incomplete student record files in the Registrar’s Office, have a grade of incomplete or unreturned library materials, will have their diploma held until all matters are resolved
