EDU 343 Methods for Teaching Mathematics

This course will equip future educators with the necessary tools to develop, assess, and implement mathematics instruction suitable for students in kindergarten through middle school. Teacher candidates will learn to foster students' mathematical understanding and proficiency by employing a student-focused, exploratory methodology aligned with Anishinaabe pedagogical practices and Wisconsin’s Standards for Mathematical Practice. The curriculum will encompass key areas such as Number & Operations, Algebra, Geometry & Measurement, and Data Analysis & Probability. Additionally, enrollees must complete 15 hours of practical field experience as part of the course requirements.
