EDU 339 Methods of Social Studies

This course will address effective strategies for teaching social studies, lesson design, implementation, and evaluation. Students will learn to develop lesson plans and curriculum units aligned with Wisconsin social studies standards, integrate diverse instructional strategies, and use various assessment tools to measure student performance. The course covers differentiating instruction for students with exceptionalities, incorporating educational technologies, and reflecting on teaching practices for continuous improvement. Participants will also explore incorporating diverse cultural and historical perspectives, with a focus on the Anishinaabe language and culture, facilitating critical thinking and inquiry, and connecting current events to social studies instruction.
