MGT 507 Managerial Acct and Finance

Students will learn Financial and Managerial Accounting through Data Analytics, Analytics Cases, Accrual Accounting methods, T-Accounts, Pathways Challenges, Business Insights, Check-up Corners, Analysis for Decision Making, Make a Decision, and other areas as needed. “Using Data Analytics” examples are added to each chapter. These describe an application of data analytics related to each chapter’s content. “Take It Further Data Analytics Cases” is added to some of the chapters. The Take It Further (TIF) cases use a dataset related to the chapter content that requires a student to analyze and develop reports using Excel and Tableau. Accrual Accounting is required by GAAP. T-Accounts with Debit and Credit postings are included with journal entries. Pathways Challenge encourages a students’ interest in accounting and emphasizes the critical thinking aspect of accounting. Business Insights show students how accounting is important to businesses with which they are familiar. To aid learning and problem solving, each chapter will include “Check Up Corners”. These will provide students with step-by-step guidance on how to solve problems. Analysis for Decision Making highlights how companies use accounting information to make decisions and evaluate their business. “Make A Decision (MAD)” in the end-of-chapter material gives students a chance to analyze real-world business decisions.
